Covid-19: Stamford, At Epicenter Of Pandemic In Connecticut, Now Has 1,045 Cases, 23 Deaths

Stamford continues to be at the epicenter of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in Fairfield County with more than 1,000 confirmed cases and 23 deaths, the most for any city in the state of Connecticut.

According to the latest figures released on Wednesday, April 8 around 6:30 p.m., Stamford had 1,045 COVID-19 cases and 23 deaths.

Officials said Stamford is likely experiencing peak transmission of COVID-19 right now and encouraged residents to stay home and avoid contact with others.

Overall, Fairfield County has the highest number of cases in the state with 4,417 confirmed cases and 155 deaths, state officials said.

Statewide, there were 8,781 total cases of COVID-19 infection reported on Wednesday, 1,000 more than Tuesday, April 7. The death rate was 335.
